This sander works as it should, and performed better than out Porter Cable unit on a recent constricted project. This "dustless" pole sander allows for a greater range of movement in tight locations for a person familiar with a pole sanding. br /br /We are a General Contractor and bought two of these in a pinch to finish nine (9) media projection rooms of an occupied building. The rooms are very small and the Finisher was spending more time re-positioning the Porter Cable unit than actual sanding. These pole sanders have an adjustable vac attachment at the pad, which allows the Finisher to position the pole wherever thay want, unlike the other products (including the Porter Cable) where the vac hose attaches at the base of the pole. These sanders were also attached to very flexible 25ft - 1 1/4" hoses which allowed the freedom of movement and the vacs to be placed away from the work areas.br /br /Don't get me wrong, we love our Porter Cable units for working in occupied areas. But these Hyde sanders are also now included in our Finisher's toolbox.

No more dust - L. Tate - LA
I am a professional wall paper installer. This product does what is says, sucks up the dust. I didn't use it with the pole, so I don't know how that works. Using it as a hand held sander was a little awkward, but well worth the hassle. I would recommend this product.

Has shortcomings but does the job - Reynold F. Heuer - Nampa, ID
I purchased this to sand ceilings in my home. I had removed the 'popcorn' from ceilings in other room and remembered how the dust had permeated the entire house. I had looked into renting a unit, but the cost was an issue as well as availability for the times I needed it. This unit was less than the cost of the rental so I thought I'd take a shot.br /br /The unit performed well capturing about 95%+ of the dust - I have a shop vac equipped with an Oneida Dust Deputy. the two major issues are weight and stability of the pad. You must realize that sanding over your head with only a pole and sanding pad is hard enough - add the weight of the vacuum hose and fittings and you can see that frequent breaks will be the norm. Second, the pad worked very will sanding along the long axis of the pad. However, when sanding in the direction of its short axis it kept flopping over. This makes it very hard to sand seams.br /br /Overall it kept the house clean and so was well worth the cost.
